The PGT PLO Series at the Venetian Las Vegas just delivered one of the most chaotic final tables of the year. Bruno Furth navigated a minefield of bad beats runner-runner miracles, and relentless aggression from poker legend Chino Rheem to capture the Main Event title and a massive $150,000 first place prize.
The day kicked off with Rheem acting as the undisputed table captain. He immediately asserted his dominance in a brutal blind versus blind confrontation sending Brevin Andreadis packing in seventh place. Allan Le was the next casualty, falling in sixth when Furth miraculously held with just ace high in a massive preflop collision to thin the field.
But the real drama started when PGT newcomer Brian Smith went on an absolute tear. In a hand that left the entire room stunned Smith cracked the pocket aces of John Riordan by hitting a miracle runner runner Broadway straight to send Riordan to the rail in fifth place in pure heartbreak fashion.
Just as Rheem looked poised to run away with the tournament, the ultimate cooler shifted the entire landscape. In a massive three-way pot, Rheem and Furth both held aces while Eran Carmi woke up with kings. Furth caught a miracle and went runner-runner to hit the flush. This massive scoop tripled his stack, eliminated Carmi in fourth and completely changed the momentum of the final table.
After Smith dusted off his stack on an ill-timed bluff to bust in third, Furth took a commanding two-to-one chip lead into the final heads-up battle against Rheem. Furth used his massive stack to bully the veteran eventually making a full house on the river to seal the victory. Rheem walked away with $100,000 for his deep run.
