Ky Nguyen

Poker pro and blogger Ky Nguyen has done it again. Known as “Suited Superman,” Nguyen won the opening event of the 2025 PokerGO Tour PLO Series. The tournament featured a $5,000 buy-in and drew 164 entries. Nguyen earned his first-ever PGT title and a top prize of $180,400.

This victory marks Nguyen’s second-largest career cash. His biggest score remains the $357,380 from winning the 2023 WPT Gardens Poker Open Championship. Nguyen now boasts nearly $1.5 million in lifetime tournament earnings. Along with the prize money, Nguyen secured 624 Card Player Player of the Year points. This was his first POY-qualified result of 2025.The event generated a total prize pool of $820,000. The top 25 finishers earned a payout, with two players receiving six-figure sums. Several notable pros made deep runs, including Daniel Negreanu (18th), Sean Winter (16th), Ronald Keijzer (13th), and Steve Zolotow (7th).

Final Table Action

Day two began with two-time bracelet winner Bryce Yockey leading the pack. Nguyen started the final table fifth in chips among the final six players. Early on, Yockey lost a crucial pot to Nguyen’s single-suited aces. This hand sent Yockey tumbling down the leaderboard.

The first elimination was six-time bracelet winner Jeremy Ausmus. Ausmus doubled up Yockey and became the short stack. Soon after, Ausmus moved all-in holding bottom pair and a flush draw. Unfortunately for him, bracelet winner James Chen held middle set. Ausmus exited in sixth place, earning $41,000.

This marked Ausmus’ sixth final table of the year. He recently won a record-setting Triton $25,000 event in Jeju. With this result, Ausmus now leads the POY standings with 3,754 points. He holds a 754-point advantage over second-ranked Brandon Wilson.

Despite doubling through Ausmus, Yockey was next to fall. His final hand saw him holding A♦8♥3♥2♦ against Nguyen’s A♠A♥7♣2♠. Nguyen remarkably picked up pocket aces six times at the final table. Yockey flopped bottom pair with straight and flush draws but couldn’t improve. He finished fifth for $49,200.

Here the full hand in action:

Two-time bracelet winner John Riordan was eliminated in fourth place. Riordan’s final chips went in holding K♥9♠9♣4♣ against Nguyen’s Q♣J♥4♥2♥. Nguyen rivered a wheel straight to scoop the pot. Riordan earned $61,500 for his deep run.

Three-Way All-In Ends Tournament

The tournament concluded dramatically with a three-way all-in confrontation. Chen shoved from the button for 900,000 chips holding 9♠7♥5♠4♣. Nguyen three-bet to 3,100,000 from the small blind with Q♠J♥10♠4♥. Matthew McEwan then four-bet shoved for 6,700,000 holding K♠K♥9♦3♥. Nguyen called, creating a massive pot.

The flop came 10♣9♥8♠, giving Nguyen the nut straight immediately. The A♣ turn left both Chen and McEwan drawing dead. The 7♣ river was meaningless, sealing Nguyen’s victory. Chen finished third, earning $82,000. McEwan secured second place and a payout of $118,900.
