Final day recap
Erik Seidel began the final table with more than 40% of the chips in play and kept control throughout. Action was fast from the start. Daniel Kim doubled early while James Chen slipped short. Chen was the first exit after his jacks ran into Seidel’s queens; Seidel filled up by the river to score the knockout for $42,900 to Chen.
Shortly after, Kim and Sean Winter got their stacks in. Winter held a hand that improved to a full house by the river, winning the pot and climbing back into contention. Winter, however, was eliminated on the very next hand by Seidel, who again had queens; Winter held ace-jack high with two suits and could not catch up on the runout.
Heads-up between Seidel and John Riordan lasted a little over an hour. Riordan found one double, but Seidel maintained a consistent 2-to-1 advantage and kept winning the small and medium pots. Eventually, Seidel whittled Riordan to just a few big blinds. In the final hand, Seidel picked up aces and closed it out.

About Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel is one of poker’s most accomplished and enduring competitors. His career spans four decades, from the pre-internet boom years through the solver-heavy GTO era, with consistent results at the highest levels throughout. He’s known for quiet table presence, sharp adjustments, and an open approach to study that kept him competitive as the game evolved.
- Total live tournament earnings (Hendon Mob): $48,336,613 as of October 2025.
- Best live cash: $2,472,555 when he won the A$250K Super High Roller Event at the 2011 Aussie Millions Poker Championship in Melbourne.
- WSOP bracelets: 10 titles across multiple variants, including his first in 1992 and a recent title in 2023 at WSOP Paradise ($50,000 Super High Roller for $1,704,400).
Why Seidel stands out
- Before GTO: He built edges by reading opponents, managing risk, and applying selective aggression. He made fewer errors than the field and capitalized when others deviated. That consistency carried him through long series and tough final tables.
- After GTO: He embraced study, learned modern concepts, and refined range work. He’s widely recognized for integrating solver-informed lines without becoming robotic, keeping the exploitative layer when the pool or situation demands it. That blend helps explain his longevity and recent high roller wins.
- Breadth of results: Seidel’s résumé cuts across formats and buy-ins, from big-field events to elite high rollers. Adding a PGT PLO Series title in 2025 shows that his skill set travels well into specialist formats and modern circuits.
