The €5,200 Omaha event at EPT Prague brought in 115 entries and a €557,750 prize pool, and Italy walked away with the biggest share. Alain Stia claimed his first EPT title and €143,100 after defeating Finland’s Sampo Ryynänen heads-up. Fellow Italian Youness Barakat completed the country’s strong showing with a third-place finish.
For a mid-high stakes Pot Limit Omaha tournament, the field was sharp. As usual, there was a heavy Scandinavian representation, steady aggression, and very few soft spots. The final table had more Swedes than Italians, but when the dust settled, the Italian rail had the louder celebration.

A Strong Omaha Turnout in Prague
The €5,200 event continues to be one of the more reliable PLO stops on the EPT schedule. With 115 entries, the payout structure rewarded clean, consistent play rather than all-in fest poker. Northern Europe showed up in force—Sweden alone put four players on the final table.
Alain Stia Breaks Through for His First EPT Title
Stia played a steady line throughout the tournament. No heroics, no chaos—just sharp hand selection, well-timed pressure, and smart risk management in a field where mistakes get punished fast. In the heads-up match, he kept Ryynänen from building momentum and closed out the event with the biggest win of his career.
Two Italians in the top three also says a lot about the country’s recent growth in Omaha fields. Italy has produced strong NLHE players for years, but the PLO wave is clearly hitting as well.
