Matt Vengrin captured his first WSOP bracelet in Event #54: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed. The veteran pro outlasted 1,564 entries. He defeated Bryce Yockey heads-up at the 2025 WSOP and earned a hefty $306,791 payday. This win pushes Vengrin’s lifetime earnings past $2 million.
Why Matt Vengrin’s WSOP win is a story of resilience
Vengrin’s WSOP journey spans nearly two decades. His Event #54 victory ends years of heartbreak at final tables.
Three previous second-place finishes
Vengrin finished runner-up three times before winning his first WSOP bracelet in 2025. Each heads-up appearance ended in disappointment. The pattern established him as a skilled player who struggled to close.
His first WSOP silver medal came early in his career in 2015, where he finished 2nd in the $3,000 HORSE Event. 2020 he had a deep run at the $400 PLOSSUS Online Event, in which Yuri Martins Dzivielevski denied him the bracelet. The same happened to him in 2022, where he earned $156,198 for his runner-up finish in the WSOP 1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or better event.
